Principal's Message

Happy New Year!

Happy New “School” Year that is! My name is Richard Holmes, and I am the proud new principal of Sevilla Primary School. I am so excited to continue to work with such an amazing group of students, families, staff, and faculty. Sevilla Primary School is a very special place, where our motto is, “Learning: It’s what we do; It’s why we’re here.” Everything that we do at Sevilla Primary aligns to this simple, yet powerful, statement. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a positive, child-centered learning environment committed to academic excellence.

I would also like to provide you with a brief summary of my educational and professional experiences. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and my masters’ degrees in both curriculum and instruction and educational administration. Over the last 13 years I have had the opportunity to serve the Alhambra Community in many capacities, such as: a volunteer reading tutor, an instructional assistant, a guest teacher, a classroom teacher, a district-level academic coach, and for the last two previous years- Sevilla Primary’s outreach coordinator.

With my experience and belief that all children can learn, I am ready to kick-off the new 2016-2017 school year! We will begin our kick-off with “Meet the Principal.” This event will be held on August 6th from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM, in Sevilla Primary’ Café. Following this event, families will be invited to meet their new teachers. I look forward to seeing you all there, and making this another HAPPY New Year!

Warmest regards,

Mr. Richard B. Holmes, Principal
Sevilla Primary School
